Atta Tarar Calls Taliban Regime Illegal
Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Atta Tarar said the Afghan Taliban have seized power by force and described the Taliban regime as an illegal and coercive system of governance.
In a statement, he said Pakistan has taken control of several Afghan forces’ check posts and effectively responded to what he termed Afghan Taliban aggression. He alleged that the Taliban regime supports terrorist groups and that terrorists receive training in Afghanistan.
Pakistan Says Afghan Aggression Effectively Countered
He said Afghan territory was used in recent terrorist incidents in Pakistan, adding that Afghan nationals were involved in the Islamabad Kachehri and Tarlai attacks.

Tarar stated that women, children, and minorities are not safe under the regime in Afghanistan. He accused the Taliban of using religion to pursue their objectives and said the government in Afghanistan is illegal and illegitimate. He alleged that the regime is depriving Afghan citizens of their fundamental rights.
Afghan Soil Used in Recent Pakistan Attacks
The minister further said the Taliban have taken control of the government by force and that their regulations are contrary to international laws. He claimed there is a hierarchy within the Taliban, describing divisions among elite, middle-class, and suppressed groups. He alleged the existence of a system of subjugation within the Taliban, which he said is against Islam, and stated that violence against women violates the Cairo Declaration.

He said women, children, and minorities are not safe in Afghanistan, adding that 18-year-old girls are prevented from pursuing education. He noted that the denial of education to women has been widely condemned internationally and said universities in Afghanistan have also been closed in 2026, depriving women of their fundamental right to education.

Taliban Accused of Denying Women Education
Tarar said women are not allowed to speak or work, and that human rights organizations worldwide have condemned the Taliban. He stated that the Taliban regime has no connection with Islam and claimed that 80 percent of women in Afghanistan have been kept away from education. He added that the regime has shut down education and employment opportunities for women and reiterated that it is an illegal and coercive system of governance.
