Azerbaijan to Expand Natural Gas Exports to 16 European Countries in 2026

Azerbaijan plans to increase its natural gas supplies to two additional European countries in 2026, bringing the total number of importing nations to sixteen, President Ilham Aliyev announced.

“Our natural gas exports are growing both in volume and geographical reach. Currently, we supply gas to 14 countries, 11 of them on a regular basis,” Aliyev said in an interview with local TV channels.

The president noted that some countries purchased Azerbaijani natural gas in 2024 but later paused imports due to alternative sources. “This is a unique, on-demand supply: when countries need it, we deliver; when they don’t, we pause. Overall, pipeline gas from Azerbaijan now reaches 14 countries, and two more European countries will be added this year, bringing the total to sixteen—the largest number of pipeline gas export destinations,” he said.

Aliyev emphasized that no other country supplies pipeline natural gas to as many nations as Azerbaijan. “Last year, our natural gas exports exceeded 25 billion cubic meters, and we see potential for further growth,” he added.

The Azerbaijani president also highlighted plans to increase natural gas exports to Syria in the near future.
