Change of command ceremony at CMF Headquarters in Bahrain
The Pakistan Navy has assumed command of Combined Task Force-150 (CTF-150) for the 14th time, marking another significant milestone in the country’s contribution to regional maritime security, during a formal change of command ceremony held at the headquarters of the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) in Bahrain.
During the ceremony, Commodore Muhammad Yasir Tahir of the Pakistan Navy formally took over command of CTF-150 from Commodore Fahad S. Al Joaid of the Royal Saudi Naval Forces (RSNF), symbolising the continued rotation of leadership among partner navies within the CMF framework.
Addressing the gathering, the incoming commander expressed confidence in his team’s readiness to undertake the responsibilities of the command. Commodore Muhammad Yasir Tahir assured that his contingent was fully prepared to uphold the mandate of the task force and contribute meaningfully to maritime security and stability across the region. He also reaffirmed the Pakistan Navy’s firm resolve to counter illicit maritime activities while safeguarding vital sea lines of communication that are essential for regional and global trade.

CTF-150 is one of the five task forces operating under the Combined Maritime Forces and plays a critical role in deterring and disrupting non-state actors involved in the trafficking of weapons, narcotics, and other illicit goods across key maritime regions, including the Indian Ocean, the Arabian Sea, and the Gulf of Oman. The task force serves as a central pillar of multinational efforts to combat transnational maritime crime.
Successful anti-narcotics operations conducted by Pakistan Navy ships during the Royal Saudi Naval Forces’ command of CTF-150 were highlighted as a reflection of Pakistan’s sustained commitment to regional peace and security through coordinated and collaborative maritime operations.
The change of command ceremony was attended by the Ambassador of Pakistan to Bahrain, the Commander Combined Maritime Force, the Commander Royal Bahrain Naval Forces, and representatives from several other navies operating under the CMF, underscoring the multinational character of the maritime security coalition.
