China Opposes Possible U.S. Military Action Against Iran Amid Protests
China has opposed any potential U.S. military action against Iran in response to ongoing protests.
A spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that China consistently opposes interference in the internal affairs of countries and the use of force in international relations. The statement emphasized that national sovereignty and the security of all nations must be respected under international law. It also expressed hope that the Iranian government and people can overcome the current challenges and maintain national stability.
Meanwhile, German Chancellor stressed that the ongoing violence in Iran must end, calling the use of force a sign of weakness rather than strength.
The remarks come after U.S. President Donald Trump said that multiple options, including military action, are being considered against Iran. Speaking on a flight from Florida to Washington D.C., Trump mentioned that the U.S. is in contact with Iranian opposition leaders and that Iran had reached out regarding discussions on the nuclear deal. He added that while talks are possible, the U.S. is still considering a range of options, including military measures.
