China, Russia Offer Mediation in Pakistan Tensions
China, Russia, Qatar, and Iran have offered to play a mediating role amid rising tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
A spokesperson for China’s Foreign Ministry expressed concern over the situation and said Beijing is ready to play a constructive role in easing tensions. The spokesperson added that China is using diplomatic channels to facilitate mediation efforts in the dispute.
Pakistan Reports Taliban Losses in Retaliatory Action
Qatar and Iran have also offered to mediate between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Qatar, Iran Propose Talks Between Islamabad Kabul
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Afghanistan and Pakistan should resolve their differences through dialogue, adding that Iran is prepared to provide all possible assistance to facilitate talks.

Russia’s foreign minister said mediation between Pakistan and Afghanistan could be considered if a request is made.
United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres also expressed concern over the recent tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan and urged both countries to fulfill their responsibilities under international law.
According to a foreign news agency, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reiterated that it would be appropriate for Afghanistan and Pakistan to resolve their differences through dialogue. He said Iran stands ready to assist in facilitating discussions and promoting mutual cooperation between the two countries.
Iran Urges Dialogue to Resolve Bilateral Differences
Araghchi added that the holy month of Ramadan is a time for restraint and for promoting unity in the Muslim world, and said it would be appropriate for Afghanistan and Pakistan to resolve their differences through good neighborly relations and dialogue.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov called on Pakistan and Afghanistan to immediately halt attacks against each other and resolve their differences through dialogue.

He said that if requested, Russia could consider mediation between the two countries.
Moscow Signals Willingness to Consider Mediation
Meanwhile, following what was described as an attempt by the Afghan Taliban to infiltrate Pakistani areas, Pakistan’s armed forces continued retaliatory operations. Security sources said Pakistan destroyed 27 check posts, including Afghan Taliban corps and brigade headquarters, and took control of nine posts.

According to security sources, more than 130 Afghan Taliban were killed in the retaliatory action, and Taliban forces raised white flags at several check posts.
