Saudi Defense Reports Drone and Missile Interceptions
Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Defense spokesperson, Major General Turki Al-Maliki, said Wednesday that the Kingdom intercepted nine drones, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
Al-Maliki stated that a drone was intercepted and destroyed in the Eastern Region, while two cruise missiles were intercepted and destroyed in Al-Kharj Governorate. The Defense Ministry earlier reported that eight drones were intercepted and destroyed near Riyadh and Al-Kharj.

The interceptions were part of ongoing defensive measures amid heightened regional tensions.
Saudi Condemns Attack on US Embassy
In a statement issued Tuesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia condemned what it described as Iran’s attack on the United States Embassy building in Riyadh. Preliminary assessments indicated that two drones targeted the diplomatic facility.

The Defense Ministry said the incident caused a limited fire and minor material damage to the embassy compound. No injuries were reported.
Early Tuesday reports described a loud explosion and visible flames at the embassy, with black smoke rising over Riyadh’s diplomatic quarter, an area that hosts numerous foreign missions.
The United States Embassy in Riyadh has not reported casualties in connection with the incident.
UK Expresses Support for Saudi Arabia
Yvette Cooper, the United Kingdom’s Foreign Secretary, addressed the incident in a post on X. She described attacks targeting innocent civilians as reckless and destabilizing.

Cooper affirmed her country’s support for Saudi Arabia and its regional partners in confronting such attacks. Her remarks came amid broader international concern over rising hostilities and threats to diplomatic missions in the region.
Heightened Security in Diplomatic Quarter
The reported blast and fire in Riyadh’s diplomatic quarter prompted heightened security measures. Authorities continue to assess the damage and review the circumstances surrounding the intercepted drones and missiles.
