Denmark to Deploy Four F-35 Jets to NATO’s Arctic Sentry Mission

COPENHAGEN: Denmark will contribute four F-35 fighter jets to NATO’s Arctic Sentry mission, Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen announced Friday.

NATO said Wednesday that it had launched the mission to reinforce its presence in the Arctic, part of broader efforts to ease tensions within the alliance following the US president’s push to acquire Greenland from Denmark.

“Our F-35 contribution strengthens the overall presence in the region and underscores Denmark’s role as an active ally in the Arctic and North Atlantic,” Poulsen said in a statement.

Poulsen added that he expects the United States to also contribute to the NATO operation. He made the remarks to reporters ahead of the Munich Security Conference in Germany.
