Deputy PM Harris Flags Risks in Revised Gaza Peace Board Structure

Ireland has raised serious concerns regarding the proposed Gaza Peace Board, citing deviations from the original UN-backed framework.

Speaking publicly, Irish Deputy Prime Minister Simon Harris said that the board, as presented at the signing ceremony, differs significantly from the initial peace plan approved by the United Nations. He expressed alarm at the omission of Gaza in the latest proposals and noted the unexpected inclusion of Russian President Vladimir Putin in the board’s structure.

Deputy Prime Minister Harris emphasized that Ireland currently does not see a clear role for participation in the peace board under these revised arrangements. He warned that the developments signal serious risks to the effectiveness and credibility of the initiative aimed at stabilizing the war-affected Palestinian territory.

The Irish statement reflects broader international scrutiny over the Gaza Peace Board, with concerns that the changes could undermine multilateral oversight and the original objectives of the UN-endorsed plan.
