External Interference Violates UN Charter, Says Pakistan’s UN Envoy
Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar, expressed concern over the situation in Iran and the wider region, stressing the need for diplomacy and dialogue.
Addressing a UN Security Council meeting on the situation in Iran, the Pakistani envoy said Pakistan is closely monitoring developments in Iran and the region and believes in the peaceful resolution of all disputes.
Asim Iftikhar termed external interference a violation of the UN Charter and said all conflicts should be resolved through peaceful means and in accordance with international law. He added that a stable Iran is in the interest of Pakistan and the region.
The Pakistani envoy expressed hope that the situation in Iran would normalize soon and that external pressure and internal unrest would come to an end. He reaffirmed that Pakistan will continue its diplomatic efforts to help resolve the issues.
