FBR All Set to Collect Rs237 Billion
Islamabad : The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has prepared to collect Rs237 billion in super tax following a Federal Constitutional Court decision.
The court ruling allows FBR to recover a total of Rs327 billion in super tax. According to FBR sources, approximately Rs90 billion of this will come from oil and gas exploration companies, which are already taxed at rates between 44% and 55%.
“Under the law, no additional tax can be levied beyond the existing framework for these companies,” the sources said. As a result, FBR has finalized plans to collect Rs237 billion from other liable entities.
The FBR has reportedly initiated contact with major companies to secure Rs100 billion over the next three days. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has also been briefed on the Supreme Court’s decision regarding the super tax.
