Federal, Provincial and Military Leaders Agree on Joint Path to Restore Peace in KP
A high-level meeting on law and order was held on Tuesday at the Corps Headquarters in Peshawar, bringing together key figures from Pakistan’s civil and military leadership. Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Suhail Afridi, and the Peshawar Corps Commander were among the prominent participants.
According to sources, the meeting reflected a rare display of unity as both political and military leadership agreed to move forward in a single direction in the ongoing fight against terrorism. The discussions underscored the importance of coordinated action and shared responsibility in addressing security challenges facing the province.
Sources said the interaction between Chief Minister Suhail Afridi and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, along with other stakeholders, remained cordial throughout. The chief minister, accompanied by his cabinet members, spent nearly three hours at the Corps Headquarters, where they were also hosted for lunch.
During the lunch, the chief minister and the interior minister were seen seated close together and engaged in conversation. Sources added that Chief Minister Suhail Afridi exchanged handshakes with Mohsin Naqvi and other participants, reflecting a positive atmosphere.
The meeting also resulted in a key decision to implement the provincial government’s administrative and governance model in the Malakand Division as a pilot framework for improved law and order management.
Furthermore, sources revealed that detailed discussions were held on achieving sustainable peace across the province. Participants agreed on adopting a collective and coordinated strategy aimed at improving conditions in the tribal districts and ensuring long-term stability.
