Field Marshal Asim Munir Meets Saudi Defence Minister, Awarded Kingdom’s Top Civil Honour
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, met His Royal Highness Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Minister of Defence of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, during his official visit to the Kingdom.
The meeting focused on a wide range of issues of shared interest, including regional security developments, defence and military cooperation, strategic coordination, and emerging geopolitical challenges. Both sides reaffirmed the longstanding, fraternal, and historic relationship between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
In recognition of his outstanding services, Field Marshal Asim Munir was conferred the King Abdulaziz Medal of Excellent Class, the highest national honour of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The award was bestowed under a Royal Decree issued by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
The honour acknowledges Field Marshal Asim Munir’s exemplary military leadership and his significant contributions to strengthening defence collaboration, strategic alignment, and institutional cooperation between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. It also reflects his role in promoting regional peace and stability, particularly through sustained cooperation in counterterrorism and security-related initiatives.
The Saudi leadership expressed appreciation for the Field Marshal’s professionalism, strategic vision, and commitment to further deepening the brotherly ties between the two nations.
Field Marshal Asim Munir conveyed his gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Saudi leadership for the prestigious honour, terming it a symbol of the enduring and trusted relationship between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s firm commitment to the security, stability, and prosperity of the Kingdom.
