First Gaza Board of Peace Meeting Set for February 19 in Washington

Washington: Preparations are under way to hold the first meeting of the Gaza Board of Peace in the United States on February 19, with invitations already dispatched to board members.

According to US media reports, President Donald Trump will host members of the board and the Gaza Executive Committee at the US Institute of Peace in Washington. A total of 25 countries have joined the Gaza Board of Peace, which is chaired by President Trump.

However, several key European countries, including the United Kingdom, France and Norway, have declined to participate, describing the initiative as effectively challenging the role and standing of the United Nations.

Israeli Prime Minister, who had initially criticized the initiative, has since indicated his willingness to become part of the Gaza Board of Peace.

While the formal agenda of the meeting has not yet been made public, US media reports suggest that the establishment of the Gaza Board of Peace is linked to the second phase of President Trump’s proposed Gaza deal. This phase reportedly focuses on the reconstruction of Gaza and the disarmament of Hamas.
