Government Withdraws Special Economic Zones Ordinance 2026
The Prime Minister of Pakistan has approved the withdrawal of the Special Economic Zones (Amendment) Ordinance 2026.
According to the official document, under Article 89(2)(b) of the Constitution of Pakistan, the President of Pakistan has been advised to withdraw the ordinance, as proposed in paragraph 4 of the summary.
The decision reflects the government’s commitment to advancing policy direction and legislative processes through Parliament. As a result, the proposed amendment under the Special Economic Zones framework will no longer be effective.
