High Commissioner Highlights Pakistan’s AI and IT Potential at London Event

AI Indus Week Pakistan was held in London, where Pakistan’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Dr. Mohammad Faisal, delivered the keynote address, emphasizing Pakistan’s readiness for sustained, trust-based digital collaboration. He stated that technology partnerships would serve as a primary driver of future bilateral and multilateral engagement.

The event was hosted by SK Hub UK, a UK-based innovation center and business group, and was attended by leading experts in artificial intelligence, industry leaders, innovators, investors, entrepreneurs, representatives of the Commonwealth, and members of the British Pakistani diaspora.

Highlighting Pakistan’s strengths within the IT ecosystem, the High Commissioner noted that the country’s value proposition is underpinned by structural factors, including a predominantly young population, a rapidly expanding IT and freelancing workforce, growing technology exports, and an increasingly prominent startup landscape. He added that this foundation is enabling Pakistan’s transition from a cost-competitive outsourcing destination to a capability-driven digital economy delivering AI, fintech, SaaS, and cybersecurity solutions to global markets.

During the London engagement of Indus AI Week Pakistan, the High Commissioner said a forward-looking vision was articulated that places technology at the core of Pakistan’s economic transformation and foreign policy. Framed through the concept of tech diplomacy, the address highlighted the evolving role of diplomatic missions from traditional political functions to platforms facilitating innovation partnerships, digital investment flows, and ecosystem-to-ecosystem collaboration.

Recalling efforts by the Pakistan High Commission UK, the High Commissioner referred to the organization of a UK–Pakistan roundtable on AI in healthcare, describing it as a practical model for sectoral cooperation. He said the initiative led to actionable outcomes, including a national AI-enabled health data framework, pilot AI-integrated EMR systems, responsible AI governance, public–private partnerships, and specialized human capital development.

He further elaborated that such initiatives demonstrate how emerging technologies can help Pakistan address structural limitations while strengthening bilateral institutional linkages.

Earlier, the High Commissioner was presented with a demonstration of AI technology highlighting its transformative impact on the IT sector. A panel discussion followed, focusing on the impact and challenges AI presents for users and policymakers.

The INDUS AI Summit, the flagship policy and leadership conference of INDUS AI Week 2026, brings together government leadership, international AI experts, industry leaders, policymakers, and thought leaders to engage in high-level dialogue and help shape the national direction for artificial intelligence in Pakistan.
