Iran Flags Real Military Threat From Trump

Iran warned that it would deliver a full and decisive response in the event of US aggression.

Iran’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations sent a letter to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, stating that recent remarks by US President Donald Trump point to a real risk of military aggression.

The letter said Iran does not seek war and has no intention of escalating tensions. However, it warned that if Iran were attacked, it would respond with full and decisive action in self-defence.

The Iranian mission said that in the event of any military action, bases, facilities and other assets of hostile forces present in the region would be considered legitimate targets.

The letter also referred to a social media post by the US president in which he said that if Iran did not agree to a deal, the United States might have to use airfields at Diego Garcia and RAF Fairford to eliminate potential threats.

Iran called on the United Nations to take note of the current situation and play its role in reducing rising tensions in the region.
