Iran, Pakistan Discuss Expanding Trade and Agricultural Cooperation
Islamabad: Minister of Agriculture of the Islamic Republic of Iran Gholamreza Nouri met Pakistan’s Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain and Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan during his visit to Pakistan.
During the meeting, the Iranian agriculture minister said that progress in various sectors, particularly in the economic and trade fields, could pave the way for further strengthening bilateral relations. He said the Leader of the Islamic Revolution and the President of Iran have emphasized the importance of reinforcing ties between Tehran and Islamabad.
He added that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian’s recent visit to Islamabad, the signing of cooperation documents, and visits by Pakistan’s ministers of agriculture and commerce to Iran have played an important role in promoting cooperation in trade and agriculture between the two countries.
On the occasion, Pakistan’s Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan referred to Pakistan’s exports of agricultural commodities and fruits to Iran, as well as imports of various goods from Iran. He said Pakistan has made good progress in the electronics industry and agricultural commodities, and that bilateral cooperation could also be initiated in these sectors.
