Iran Warns U.S. Against Intervening in Protests

Iran’s leadership issued a sharp warning to Washington after U.S. President Donald Trump said the United States could intervene if Iranian authorities use violence against protesters.

Ali Shamkhani, an adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said any “interventionist hand” threatening Iran’s security would be “cut off.” Writing on social media platform X, Shamkhani said the Iranian nation is well aware of America’s past claims of “saving” others, citing Iraq, Afghanistan and Gaza.

Separately, Iran’s National Security Council Secretary Ali Larijani responded in English on X to Trump’s remarks, saying recent statements by Israeli officials and the U.S. president had exposed behind-the-scenes activities.

Larijani said Iran distinguishes between the legitimate demands of protesting traders and acts of unrest, warning that U.S. interference in Iran’s internal affairs would destabilize the entire region and harm American interests.

He added that Americans should understand that this “adventurism” was initiated by Trump himself and cautioned Washington to be mindful of the safety of its troops.

Trump earlier said on his Truth Social account that if Iran used violence or killed peaceful protesters, the United States would step in to protect them, adding that Washington was “fully prepared” to do so.
