Iranian Envoy Meets Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz to Discuss Regional Escalations
Islamabad : A senior Iranian official held meetings with Pakistan Muslim League (N) President Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to exchange views on the evolving regional situation, particularly in the context of recent interventions, threats, and escalatory rhetoric by the United States and the Israeli regime.
The discussions focused on regional developments and initiatives aimed at further strengthening bilateral relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Pakistan, described as two brotherly nations with deep historical ties.
During the meetings, the Iranian side reiterated Tehran’s firm commitment to further enhancing Iran-Pakistan relations and expressed sincere appreciation for Pakistan’s principled positions and continued support for Iran across various forums. Special acknowledgment was made of the efforts of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar in promoting comprehensive and all-round cooperation between the two countries.
While underlining Iran’s full readiness to defend itself against any imminent adventurism, the Iranian official emphasized Tehran’s steadfast determination to pursue fair, equitable, and constructive negotiations to resolve outstanding issues through dialogue, mutual respect, and adherence to international norms.
Highlighting the depth of bilateral ties, the Iranian side described Iran and Pakistan as “two bodies and one soul,” noting that both nations have consistently demonstrated mutual commitment, solidarity, and brotherhood throughout history.
Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, while referring to the close monitoring of developments in Iran and the broader region, expressed concern over recent events and emerging threats. He stressed the importance of constructive negotiations grounded in mutual respect, equality, and good faith, in accordance with international law and the United Nations Charter.
He emphasized that dialogue and diplomacy, along with the protection of national sovereignty and the rejection of any threat or use of force, remain the only viable path to ensuring peace, stability, and prosperity in an already volatile region.
