Iranian Revolutionary Guards Begin Naval Exercises in Hormuz

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy has launched naval exercises titled “Smart Control of the Strait of Hormuz” in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to an Iranian news agency, the joint drills are being supervised and field-monitored by the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, Major General Mohammad Pakpour.

The report said the main objectives of the exercises include assessing the operational preparedness of IRGC naval units, reviewing response plans in the event of potential security and military threats in the Strait of Hormuz region, and effectively utilizing Iran’s geographical and strategic importance in the Gulf and the Gulf of Oman.

It added that the announcement of the naval drills in the Strait of Hormuz comes at a time when US President Donald Trump has indicated the possibility of sending another aircraft carrier to the Middle East.
