IRGC Exercises Signal Swift Response to Potential US Strike

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has announced that it will conduct naval exercises in the Strait of Hormuz on February 1 and 2. According to Iranian state media, the announcement comes amid rising tensions with the United States and growing fears of a potential U.S. strike against Iran.

The Strait of Hormuz is considered one of the world’s most critical oil transit routes, linking major Gulf oil producers such as Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, and the United Arab Emirates to the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea. The region is strategically sensitive, with U.S.-allied Arab states on one side and Iran on the other, making any military maneuver closely watched internationally.

Recently, U.S. President Donald Trump warned that a large naval fleet, led by the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, is heading toward Iran. Iranian officials responded by stating that any U.S. attack would be met with a swift and comprehensive response, while emphasizing that Iran is open to negotiations only if they are fair, balanced, and free from pressure.

Meanwhile, European foreign ministers on Thursday approved adding the IRGC to the list of terrorist organizations, a move that could increase international pressure on Iran’s military activities.
