Ishaq Dar Highlights GSP Plus as Key to Pakistan-EU Economic Growth

Islamabad : Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar chaired a high-level inter-ministerial meeting to discuss measures to strengthen Pakistan’s economic and trade relations with the European Union.

During the meeting, the minister highlighted the importance of enhancing trade cooperation, exploring new avenues for economic engagement, and further deepening Pakistan-EU economic ties. He emphasized that the GSP Plus framework remains a key tool for mutually beneficial trade and stressed the need to fully leverage its potential to support Pakistan’s economic growth.

The meeting was attended by the Federal Minister of Commerce, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Bajwa, Secretary of Foreign Affairs Amb. Amna Baloch, secretaries of Commerce, Human Rights, and Human Resources, along with senior officials from relevant provincial and federal departments and ministries.

The discussions focused on policy coordination, maximizing trade benefits under GSP Plus, and identifying new opportunities to expand Pakistan’s exports to the EU market.
