Israeli Extremist Violence Sparks UN Concern Over Palestinian Safety
UNITED NATIONS : The United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights has expressed deep concern over increasing violence by Israeli extremists and the situation in the West Bank. The High Commissioner called for an immediate halt to ongoing illegal settlements and acts of aggression.
Citing statements by Volker, the UN highlighted that the head of Israel’s state media, in an annual security report issued on February 9, noted that terrorist-style measures by the Israeli government have intensified in the West Bank since April 2026. According to the report, in less than 40 days of the current year, 22 Palestinians have been injured, and 11 incidents of vehicles and buildings being set on fire by extremists have been recorded.
