Israeli Official Confirms Reliability of Gaza Health Ministry Death Toll

Tel Aviv : A senior Israeli military official has acknowledged that the casualty figures released by Hamas-run Gaza’s Ministry of Health are broadly accurate, marking a significant shift from Israel’s previous position of rejecting the data.

According to Israeli media reports, the official confirmed that the reported death toll reflects Palestinians killed directly in Israeli military operations. However, the figures do not include those missing under rubble, nor deaths caused by hunger, disease, or the collapse of medical and humanitarian services in the besieged territory.

Israeli military authorities said assessments are still under way to determine the ratio of civilian to militant casualties, indicating that a full breakdown of the figures has yet to be completed.

For months, Israel had publicly disputed the credibility of Gaza’s health ministry statistics. In contrast, the United Nations and multiple international organizations have consistently described the figures as reliable and credible.

According to Gaza’s Ministry of Health, at least 71,667 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks since October 7, 2023, highlighting the scale of the humanitarian catastrophe unfolding in the enclave.
