Jordan, Qatar Sign Multiple Agreements to Boost Bilateral Cooperation
LONDON: Jordan and Qatar on Sunday signed several agreements and memoranda of understanding during the fifth session of the Joint Higher Committee, aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two countries across a wide range of sectors.
According to an international media report, the memoranda are designed to enhance bilateral collaboration in areas including politics, the economy, tourism, religious affairs, and youth initiatives, reflecting the growing partnership between Amman and Doha.
The signing ceremony followed a meeting between Jordan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Ayman Safadi and Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani.
The two ministers also held a separate meeting attended by senior officials from both sides, including Jordan’s Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply Yarub Qudah, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Emad Hijazeen, Qatar’s Minister of Commerce and Industry Sheikh Faisal bin Thani Al-Thani, and the Chair of Qatar Tourism Saad bin Ali Al-Kharji.
Discussions focused on strengthening strategic relations and addressing key regional developments, with particular emphasis on ending the Gaza crisis and advancing efforts toward the establishment of a Palestinian state.
Safadi and Al-Thani welcomed the formation of the Palestinian National Committee to oversee the administration of Gaza and also appreciated US efforts aimed at promoting peace and stability in the region.
The ministers further stressed the importance of supporting Syria’s government in reconstruction efforts to ensure the country’s unity, sovereignty, and the welfare of its people.
Separately, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani met King Abdullah II at Al-Husseiniya Palace in Amman on Sunday, an international media report said.
