Kashmiris observe Black Day with rallies demanding freedom

ISLAMABAD: On India’s so-called Republic Day, the people of Azad Jammu and Kashmir observed Black Day across the region, holding peaceful and large-scale rallies to condemn Indian oppression and reaffirm their demand for freedom.

Participants in the rallies expressed strong support for the struggle against Indian occupation in Kashmir, emphasizing that the governance imposed by armed forces in the region has no legal or moral legitimacy. They vowed neither to accept nor allow the continuation of a regime maintained through force.

Speakers highlighted that India deprived the people of occupied Kashmir of their statehood on 5 August 2019 and has since subjected them to severe human rights violations. Protesters further stated that India has no right to celebrate Republic Day and questioned the democratic credentials of a state they described as fascist, oppressive, and violent.

The rallies reflected collective awareness and unity among Kashmiris, reinforcing their determination to uphold their right to self-determination and draw international attention to ongoing political, constitutional, and human rights violations.
