Khawaja Asif Criticizes PTI Over Imran Khan

Islamabad :Defence Minister Khawaja Asif has said that despite internal divisions within Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), all factions are united on one point that former prime minister Imran Khan should remain in prison.

In a statement posted on social media platform X, the defence minister claimed that PTI is deeply fragmented but shares complete agreement on the issue of Imran Khan’s continued incarceration.

Asif Accuses KP Government of Inaction

Khawaja Asif criticized the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government, alleging that it plans to form a “release force” for Imran Khan while failing to speak out against militancy. He further accused the provincial administration of avoiding participation in funerals of security personnel who have lost their lives in recent attacks.

The minister stated that police officers are being killed on a daily basis and incidents of violence, including people being burned alive, are occurring, yet, according to him, the PTI founder remains the party’s first and last priority.

PTI Factions United on Imran Khan Issue

He also took aim at what he described as internal discord within the party, saying that its structure has splintered into multiple factions whose exact number is unclear. Despite these divisions, he asserted, all groups appear aligned in their stance that Imran Khan should stay behind bars.

Khawaja Asif further alleged that political priorities are being shaped around the protection of chief ministerial positions rather than broader provincial or national interests. He claimed that issues of national security are being sidelined, while political infighting and online commentary from overseas-based content creators continue to intensify.
