OpenAI Launches ChatGPT Go: $8 Subscription with GPT-5.2 Access

OpenAI has introduced ChatGPT Go, a new low-cost subscription that provides access to GPT-5.2, higher usage limits, and enhanced memory, without the premium-tier price. The offering comes with several advantages over the free version, making advanced features more accessible to users worldwide.

Originally launched in India last year, ChatGPT Go is now available globally starting 16 January 2026, including in the U.S., where it costs $8 per month. Subscribers receive 10 times more messages, file uploads, and image-generation capabilities compared to the free tier.

Alongside this launch, OpenAI will begin testing ads in ChatGPT on both web and mobile platforms in the coming weeks. Ads will appear at the bottom of responses when relevant to the user’s conversation, featuring products or services related to the topic. OpenAI has confirmed that all advertisements will be clearly labeled and separated from the chatbot’s organic responses.

Importantly, the company assures that user conversations will not be shared with advertisers, and ads will not influence ChatGPT’s answers. This move represents a soft launch of advertising within one of the world’s most popular AI chatbots.
