According to security officials, the Pakistan Army launched an effective response to cross-border hostilities attributed to the Afghan Taliban. Sources said that on February 28, 2026, during daylight hours, Pakistani troops crossed the border fence adjacent to North Waziristan and advanced swiftly toward a key Taliban position inside Afghan territory.

Security sources reported that upon seeing the advancing Pakistani forces, Afghan Taliban fighters began retreating from the post. The Pakistan Army then carried out what was termed a decisive counter-operation and secured control of the central Taliban post.
