Pakistan and Saudi Arabia Agree to Expand Trade and Investment Cooperation

Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan has met Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Minister for Investment, Ibrahim Al-Mubarak, to discuss strengthening Pakistan–Saudi trade and investment cooperation under an investment-led partnership model.

During the meeting, both sides agreed to enhance economic collaboration by combining Pakistan’s production capacity with Saudi capital and market access. Comprehensive discussions were held on exploring joint access to markets in Central Asia, Africa and ASEAN countries.

The talks also focused on Saudi Arabia’s interest in corporate rice farming in Pakistan, including the possibility of long-term supply arrangements. Opportunities for cooperation in the agricultural sector were discussed, particularly in rice, fodder, meat production and food security-related projects.

Both sides agreed that agricultural mechanisation and corporate farming could play a key role in increasing Pakistan’s export capacity. They also examined export-oriented investment models to address declining agricultural output, including challenges related to cotton production.

Cooperation in workforce development was another key area of discussion. Pakistan and Saudi Arabia explored collaboration in training manpower for nursing, caregiving and hospitality sectors. The Saudi side expressed willingness to support the introduction of a “train-to-deploy” model in Pakistan, drawing on Saudi experience.

The meeting also highlighted opportunities for Pakistani suppliers to meet Saudi Arabia’s import needs in construction materials, including marble and limestone.

In addition, discussions were held on potential joint ventures in pharmaceuticals, sports goods and light engineering sectors.

Both sides agreed to pursue tangible outcomes through sector-specific workshops and business-to-business engagements to advance bilateral economic cooperation.
