Pakistan Armed Forces Reaffirm Support for Kashmiris on Solidarity Day
On the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day, the leadership of the Pakistan Armed Forces reaffirmed their unwavering support for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) in their struggle for the right to self-determination.
Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces; Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of the Naval Staff; and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, issued a joint message on behalf of the armed forces, paying tribute to the resilience of the Kashmiri people and expressing solidarity with their quest for freedom and dignity.
The statement strongly condemned grave human rights violations in IIOJK, including extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances, and arbitrary detentions. It also denounced efforts to alter the demographic and political character of the disputed region, terming such actions a blatant violation of international law.
The military leadership reiterated that a just and peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, in line with relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people, remains essential for durable peace and stability in South Asia.
The statement called on the international community to take concrete and meaningful steps to alleviate the suffering of the Kashmiri people and to ensure respect for their fundamental rights.
Reaffirming their constitutional duty, the armed forces said they remain fully committed to safeguarding Pakistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, while standing firmly alongside their Kashmiri brothers and sisters in their legitimate struggle for self-determination.
