Pakistan Education Ministry Partners with Tech Valley to Roll Out Canva for Education Nationwide

ISLAMABAD:
The Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training (MOFEPT) has signed a Letter of Understanding (LoU) with Tech Valley Pakistan to accelerate the digital transformation of educational institutions through Canva for Education, offering free access to premium creative tools for K–12 schools across the country.

The signing ceremony, chaired by Wajiha Qamar, Minister of State for Federal Education and Professional Training, marked the beginning of a multi-phase national rollout scheduled to start in 2026.

Under the agreement, students and educators in K–12 institutions will receive 100 percent free access to Canva’s premium features, enabling modern, creative, and collaborative learning experiences. Speaking at the ceremony, Wajiha Qamar described the partnership as a major step toward inclusive digital education.

“This partnership is a significant milestone in our journey toward a digitally inclusive education system. By bringing Canva’s premium creative features to our schools, we are empowering students with tools that allow them to express themselves and collaborate at a global standard,” she said.

To ensure smooth and secure implementation, Tech Valley Pakistan will serve as the technical integration partner, configuring Single Sign-On (SSO) to provide managed and secure access for users once the official digital infrastructure is fully in place.

A key focus of the collaboration is long-term capacity building. Beyond access to tools, the partnership introduces the ‘Canva Champion’ Program, aimed at developing global-standard digital skills among educators.

As part of this initiative, Tech Valley will lead a Train-the-Trainer program to certify local educators as Canva Champions. The Ministry of Education will nominate representatives from each institution to serve as master trainers, ensuring that expertise remains embedded within schools to support both teachers and students over time.

Umar Farooq, CEO of Tech Valley Pakistan & MENA, said the initiative would help build a sustainable creative ecosystem for students.

“By building a network of Canva Champions, we are creating an ecosystem where Pakistani students can express themselves using the same premium tools relied upon by professionals around the world,” he noted.

The ceremony was also attended by Fatima Akhtar, Vice President Communications at Jazz, and Fahad Rehman, Head of ESG (Governance & Sustainability), highlighting strong private-sector support for digital inclusion and youth empowerment through technology-driven education.

The partnership will serve as a key execution mechanism for the ‘FDE Quality Education & Innovation Roadmap’, recently launched by Federal Minister Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui. Through the deployment of Canva for Education, the Ministry aims to fast-track Pillar 1 (Digital and Innovative Learning) and Pillar 5 (Professional Development) of its five-year strategic framework.
