Pakistan Hosts Kazakhstan Media Delegation to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

Islamabad: The Institute of Regional Studies (IRS), Islamabad, in collaboration with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MoIB), hosted a reception in honor of a Kazakhstan Media Delegation at the Pak-China Friendship Centre.

The event featured addresses by Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ataullah Tarar; Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Pakistan H.E. Yerzhan Kistafin; IRS President Ambassador Jauhar Saleem; Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed; and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Tourism Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan. It provided a platform for exchanging perspectives on deepening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation between the media communities of Pakistan and Kazakhstan.

Academics and media professionals, including Dr. Adam Saud of Bahria University Islamabad, Dr. Taraq Waheed of SZABIST, senior journalists Shaukat Paracha and Farooq Hassan, as well as Kazakh journalist Mr. Yargali, highlighted the growing significance of Pakistan–Kazakhstan relations amid renewed bilateral momentum. The reception was also attended by prominent guests such as Parliamentary Secretary Farah Naz Akbar, MNA Shamaila Rana, Secretary Information Ashfaq Ahmad Khalid, and MoIB Executive Director Raisa Adil.

Federal Minister Ataullah Tarar emphasized the strategic importance of Pakistan–Kazakhstan relations and called for sustained cooperation across key sectors including energy, culture, tourism, trade, education, science and technology, media, and people-to-people exchanges. He noted that the recent visit of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Pakistan underscored both countries’ commitment to high-level bilateral engagement, with multiple agreements and memoranda of understanding in the pipeline to translate shared intent into tangible outcomes.

Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed described Pakistan–Kazakhstan relations as a cornerstone of Pakistan’s broader engagement with Central Asia, rooted in shared history and strategic interests. He highlighted Kazakhstan’s role in regional stability, connectivity, and economic cooperation, while praising Ambassador Kistafin’s proactive diplomacy in strengthening bilateral trust and collaboration.

IRS President Ambassador Jauhar Saleem reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to expanding relations with Kazakhstan into a broad-based economic partnership. He emphasized the growing potential for issue-based bilateral and multilateral cooperation with Kazakhstan and other Central Asian partners, particularly in connectivity, energy security, and trade facilitation, reflecting Pakistan’s vision of linking South Asia with Central Asia and beyond.
