Pakistan Launches Second Indigenous EO Satellite EO-2
ISLAMABAD : Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) successfully launched its second indigenous Electro-Optical satellite (EO-2) from Yangjiang Seashore Launch Centre (YSLC), China, marking a key milestone in the nation’s space program.
Developed in-house at SUPARCO’s Satellite Research and Development Centre (SRDC), EO-2 was engineered through domestic research, design, and systems integration. The satellite will operate alongside EO-1, enhancing Earth observation capabilities under varying illumination conditions and improving surface feature monitoring, change detection, and imaging continuity.
The launch strengthens Pakistan’s Earth observation fleet, providing critical data for national planning, governance, resource management, and the development of reliable, homegrown space systems.
