Pakistan Marks Kashmir Solidarity Day with Nationwide Events

Pakistan is observing Kashmir Solidarity Day today to pay tribute to the ongoing struggle of the Kashmiri people for their right to self-determination.

A public holiday has been declared across the country. In Muzaffarabad, sirens were scheduled to sound between 9:00 and 10:00 am, followed by a one-minute silence to honor the sacrifices of the Kashmiri people.

Solidarity events are being held nationwide to express unity with Kashmiris. Human chains are being formed on routes linking Azad Jammu and Kashmir with Pakistan as a symbol of collective support.

A special session of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly is also taking place today. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is visiting Muzaffarabad to mark the occasion.

President and Prime Minister’s Messages

In their messages on Kashmir Solidarity Day, President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Kashmiri cause.

President Zardari stated that the day represents a renewal of Pakistan’s firm commitment to stand with the Kashmiri people. He said Pakistanis around the world are expressing solidarity with their Kashmiri brothers and emphasized that granting Kashmiris their right to self-determination in accordance with United Nations resolutions is essential.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif described India’s decision to revoke the special status of occupied Kashmir as illegal, stressing that the Pakistani nation stands shoulder to shoulder with Kashmiris in their struggle for self-determination. He reaffirmed that Pakistan will continue to extend moral, diplomatic, and political support to the Kashmiri people.

Armed Forces Express Solidarity with Kashmiris

Pakistan’s armed forces strongly condemned serious human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and expressed full solidarity with the Kashmiri people.

Field Marshal Asim Munir, the Chief of Naval Staff, and the Chief of Air Staff reiterated their support for the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances, and arbitrary arrests in occupied Kashmir are unacceptable. The statement said India’s attempts to alter the demographic and political identity of Kashmir constitute a violation of international law.

The ISPR emphasized that a just resolution of the Kashmir dispute is essential for lasting peace in South Asia and urged the international community to take practical steps to alleviate the suffering of the Kashmiri people. It reaffirmed that Pakistan stands with its Kashmiri brothers and sisters in their struggle for freedom and dignity.
