Pakistani Envoy Warns UN of Terror Threats Linked to Afghanistan
UNITED NATIONS : Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, has expressed serious concern over the presence of terrorist groups operating from Afghan territory.
Addressing a meeting of the United Nations Security Council, the Pakistani envoy said Afghan soil is being used to plan and launch terrorist attacks. He stated that recent incidents had claimed the lives of 80 innocent Pakistanis, adding that these attacks were planned from across the border and carried out by groups responsible for terrorism against Pakistan.
Asim Iftikhar called on the Afghan Taliban to ensure that Afghan territory is not used against Pakistan or any other country. He also voiced concern over the worsening humanitarian situation in Afghanistan and the continued violations of women’s rights.
