Pakistan’s Consul General Highlights Youth Role in Climate Action at Dubai Event
Dubai : H.E. Hussain Muhammad, Consul General of Pakistan, emphasized the importance of youth leadership in climate action during an event organized by Earth Warriorz and the Pakistan Youth Forum (PYF) at the Pakistan Association Dubai (PAD). The gathering featured the screening of the documentary “The Last Village”, which highlights the severe impacts of climate change on vulnerable communities in Swat, Pakistan.
Speaking to attendees, the Consul General praised Ms. Emaan Danish, Founder of Earth Warriorz, and her team for their efforts, while commending PYF for mobilizing young Pakistanis on a matter of both national and global significance.
H.E. Hussain noted that Pakistan is among the countries most affected by climate change, despite contributing less than one percent to global emissions. He highlighted the country’s commitments under its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC 3.0), including targets for emissions reduction, expansion of renewable energy, and large-scale afforestation programs.
The Consul General also called for enhanced international cooperation, increased climate finance, and technology transfer, urging developed nations to support developing countries in building climate resilience.
Highlighting the critical role of youth in combating climate challenges, he encouraged collective efforts toward a sustainable and resilient future. He said “The Last Village” serves as a compelling reminder that climate change is not only an environmental concern but also a humanitarian and socio-economic challenge.
