Pakistan’s Marble and Onyx Exports to China Hold Steady in 2025
Pakistan’s exports of marble, onyx and related stone products to China remained largely stable in 2025, supported by steady demand from the construction and interior decoration sectors ahead of the Spring Festival, according to official Chinese data.
Figures released by the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) show that Türkiye led exports in the category, with shipments valued at $18.49 million, followed by Bulgaria at $16.75 million. Pakistan ranked third, exporting 31.74 million kilograms of calcareous building stone to China, valued at $8.10 million.
Exports under HS Code 25151200, which covers marble and travertine cut into slabs, increased to $5.41 million in 2025, up from $5.02 million in 2024. Shipments of crude or roughly trimmed marble under HS Code 25151100 also recorded a modest rise during the year.
Granite exports delivered mixed results. While shipments of crude granite declined, exports of cut granite increased, indicating a gradual shift toward value-added stone products.
Some related export categories experienced downturns. Exports of precious metal ores under HS Code 26169000 fell sharply to $2.39 million from $8.62 million in 2024. Meanwhile, exports of unworked precious and semi-precious stones under HS Code 71031000 stood at $2.57 million.
Muhammad Abid, owner of Bilal Enterprises, told to media that demand for Pakistani marble and onyx typically rises ahead of the Chinese New Year. He said his company sets up installations and stalls featuring marble and onyx products carved with Chinese characters before each Spring Festival.
Abid noted particularly strong interest in horse-themed items for the upcoming Year of the Horse, which begins on February 17. He added that identifying the products as Pakistani boosts customer interest, citing the quality of the stone and positive goodwill toward Pakistan.
