PM Announces Rs38 Billion Ramadan Relief Package
Islamabad : Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced a Rs38 billion Ramadan Relief Package aimed at providing financial assistance to deserving families during the holy month.
During the launch ceremony, the Secretary of the Benazir Income Support Programme briefed the prime minister that the cash assistance under the package has been increased to Rs13,000 per family this year. The objective of the initiative, he said, is to ensure dignified and transparent relief for eligible beneficiaries.
The briefing noted that under the Ramadan package in 2025, beneficiaries had received Rs5,000. This year, the funds will be transferred directly to eligible recipients through core banking channels.
Officials further informed that the total size of the Ramadan Relief Package stands at Rs38 billion. A committee comprising federal ministers will oversee all stages of the package’s implementation, while the prime minister himself will supervise the overall mechanism.
Addressing the ceremony, the prime minister said that last year, financial assistance was distributed through a digital system, with Rs20 billion allocated for the purpose. He added that the allocation has been increased to Rs38 billion this year to expand support.
Shehbaz Sharif stated that the relief funds would be distributed through a transparent system across all four provinces and Azad Kashmir, with each eligible family receiving Rs13,000.
