PM, KP Chief Minister Discuss Security, Development
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Monday met Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sohail Afridi, and underscored the need for close cooperation between the federal and provincial governments to ensure peace and stability in the province.
The meeting was held at the Prime Minister’s Office and was attended by KP Adviser on Finance Muzammil Aslam, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Federal Minister Amir Muqam, and Rana Sanaullah.
According to an official statement, the Prime Minister emphasized that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government must strengthen provincial institutions to effectively counter terrorism. He noted that the provincial government enjoys constitutional authority and bears responsibility for maintaining law and order and promoting public welfare.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stressed the importance of enhanced efforts by the provincial government to ensure lasting peace, adding that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is an important federating unit of the country. He said the federal government would continue making full efforts for the prosperity and well-being of the people of the province.
The Prime Minister also urged the provincial government to take concrete steps to improve health and education services for the public.
The statement said the Prime Minister assured full federal cooperation in accelerating development projects, improving education and healthcare, and expanding employment opportunities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He reiterated that the federal government believes in moving forward together with all provinces under a vision of balanced and uniform development.
The Prime Minister added that national unity and prosperity can be achieved through consultation, coordination, and collective efforts.
