Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has canceled his scheduled two-day visit to Russia in light of the evolving regional situation, according to sources at the Prime Minister’s House.

The visit, which had been described as highly significant, was set to begin on March 2. However, officials confirmed that the prime minister decided to postpone the trip due to what was termed an extraordinary regional security environment.
Emergency Security Meeting Convened in Islamabad
Sources said the prime minister has convened an emergency meeting to assess the prevailing security conditions in the region. The session will be attended by senior military leadership and heads of intelligence agencies. Participants are expected to conduct a comprehensive review of the security dynamics affecting neighboring countries, including Afghanistan and Iran, along with other states in the broader region.
