ISLAMABAD : The Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) held high-level talks at the PRCS National Headquarters, focusing on urgently scaling up coordinated humanitarian assistance for vulnerable communities in the Merged Areas.
During the meeting, PRCS Chairperson Farzhana Naek and the ICRC Head of Delegation in Pakistan, Christoph Sutter, discussed ways to strengthen joint humanitarian efforts, particularly in district Kurram and the Tirah Valley, in response to the rapidly evolving humanitarian situation.
Farzhana Naek briefed the ICRC delegation on the changing ground realities and the growing humanitarian needs of crisis-affected populations.
She emphasized that the fragile and sensitive conditions in the Merged Areas require immediate, well-coordinated and sustained humanitarian action to address food insecurity, health needs, displacement pressures and protection concerns.
