Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Meets Global AI Experts During UK Visit

London : Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, held a high-level meeting with leading experts in artificial intelligence (AI) during his unofficial visit to the United Kingdom last week.

The delegation included senior representatives from global institutions and organizations such as BlackRock, University of Cambridge, University of Oxford, Deloitte, and leading AI and technology companies worldwide. Also present was Bilal Bin Saqib, Chairman of Pakistan Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority (PVARA).

During the meeting, the Prime Minister emphasized that the government is prioritizing the adoption of emerging technologies to drive national and economic development. He highlighted the importance of leveraging global expertise, particularly from the Pakistani diaspora, to accelerate Pakistan’s digital and economic transformation.

“Emerging technologies like artificial intelligence must align with national priorities, institutional capabilities, and inclusive development goals,” the Prime Minister said. He also noted that the government is actively collaborating with the private sector to improve the delivery of public services.

The delegation discussed practical applications of AI to address Pakistan’s key challenges, while Bilal Bin Saqib noted that artificial intelligence is no longer a future concept for Pakistan but a golden opportunity in the present, and that the government is taking concrete steps in this regard.

The meeting reflects Pakistan’s broad strategy to integrate digital transformation, innovation, and technology-driven public policy with international institutional partnerships and long-term development vision.
