MOSCOW: Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed condolences to Iran’s leadership over civilian casualties resulting from what the Kremlin described as Israeli-American military actions against Iran and called for an immediate halt to hostilities.

According to the Kremlin, Putin held a telephone conversation late Friday with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to discuss the latest developments in the region following the escalation of hostilities.

During the call, the Russian president conveyed his deep condolences over the deaths reported during the conflict, including the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, members of Khamenei’s family, Iranian political and military figures, and civilians.
