Saudi Arabia Launches National AI Curriculum for University Students
Riyadh: The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) has launched the National Cross-Disciplinary Curriculum for University Students in Data and AI, aiming to provide practical foundations for understanding data and using artificial intelligence responsibly in learning, work, and decision-making.
The launch took place during the International Conference on Data and AI Capacity Building, held from January 28-29. SDAIA organized the conference in academic partnership with King Saud University, knowledge partnership with the Human Capability Development Program, and strategic partnership with Elm, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Friday.
The curriculum targets undergraduate students across all disciplines in Saudi universities. It enables universities to introduce a mandatory course in data and AI for every academic program, ensuring that all students achieve a minimum level of core knowledge and practical skills.
By providing access to tools, applications, and real-world use cases, the curriculum allows non-specialists to apply AI in their fields, rather than limiting AI education to computer science students.
Officials said the program is designed to equip students with the skills required for practical application in the labor market, supporting the Kingdom’s broader efforts to build AI capacity and prepare the workforce for a data-driven future.
