Saudi Cabinet Welcomes Syrian Ceasefire, Reviews Major International Initiatives
Riyadh: Saudi Arabia’s Cabinet, chaired by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, on Tuesday welcomed a ceasefire agreement between the Syrian government and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), reaffirming the Kingdom’s support for resolving regional and international disputes through dialogue, and condemning violations of the Gaza ceasefire by Israel.
The Cabinet said that breaches in Palestinian territory undermine efforts to stabilize the truce and advance the second phase of the peace plan, emphasizing the need for a just and lasting settlement enabling Palestinians to establish an independent state.
In a statement carried by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Minister of Media Salman Al-Dossari said the ministers welcomed the cooperation between the Syrian government and the SDF, supported by Saudi Arabia and the United States, which led to the ceasefire aimed at promoting peace, stability, and national unity in Syria.

The Cabinet also reviewed outcomes of major international events hosted by the Kingdom, including the second Ministerial Council meeting of the Green Middle East Initiative, which expanded membership to 35 countries and reaffirmed commitments to plant over 22 billion trees and rehabilitate 92 million hectares of land.
Ministers praised the International Conference on Building Capabilities in Data and AI, which resulted in multiple initiatives and 27 agreements to strengthen academic partnerships and advance Saudi Arabia’s national AI strategy. They also noted outcomes from the fifth Future Real Estate Forum, which concluded with 80 agreements and MoUs, and highlighted the Saudi Media Forum for positioning Riyadh as a hub for innovation, digital transformation, and content creation.
The Cabinet welcomed progress across government sectors, including the launch of the National Privatization Strategy to diversify the economy, strengthen private sector participation, and improve infrastructure and public services. New development projects in Makkah and Jeddah industrial cities were also noted for boosting local manufacturing and economic growth.
Among its decisions, the Cabinet approved cooperation agreements and MoUs with Cyprus, Finland, Brazil, Uzbekistan, South Korea, and Mexico, as well as partnerships with Harvard University and the League of Arab States.
Other approvals included Saudi Arabia’s National Policy for the Arabic Language, the Equestrian Authority’s membership in the International Federation of Thoroughbred Breeders, and Gulf Cooperation Council framework legislation on combating narcotics and responding to hazardous materials incidents.
The Cabinet also approved the state’s final accounts for the previous fiscal year, renewed and appointed members to the General Authority for Real Estate board, and authorized senior government promotions, including ambassadorial and minister plenipotentiary positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
