Security Forces Capture Afghan Handler Behind Deadly Islamabad Attack

Pakistan security agencies have arrested the Afghan national identified as the mastermind behind the suicide bombing that struck Islamabad’s outskirts, marking a major breakthrough in the investigation, security sources said.

According to officials, intelligence and law enforcement agencies carried out targeted raids in Peshawar and Nowshera following the suicide attack that occurred a day earlier in the Tarlai Kalan area of Islamabad. The operations were conducted using a combination of technical surveillance and human intelligence.

Security sources confirmed that four facilitators linked to the suicide bomber were arrested during the raids. Investigators revealed that the handler and planner of the attack was an Afghan citizen associated with the banned terrorist organization Daesh (ISIS), who has now been taken into custody.

Authorities stated that the investigation remains ongoing as agencies work to dismantle the wider network involved in planning and executing the attack.

The suicide bombing took place at Imambargah and Masjid Khadijat-ul-Kubra in Tarlai, where at least 33 people were martyred and more than 150 others sustained injuries, according to official figures.
