Senegal President Visits Kuwait, Heads to UAE for Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week

Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Faye arrived in Kuwait on Monday for an official visit before traveling onward to the United Arab Emirates to attend Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week.

Accompanied by ministers overseeing national transformation, African integration, foreign affairs, finance and water management, President Faye held talks with Kuwait’s Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah on a range of bilateral and regional issues, officials said.

According to his office, the visit is aimed at strengthening relations between Senegal and Gulf countries, including Kuwait and the UAE.

President Faye is also scheduled to participate in the final two days of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week on Jan. 14 and 15. The annual international event focuses on global challenges related to sustainable development, energy transition and innovation.

Upon his arrival in Kuwait, President Faye was received by Prime Minister Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Deputy Assistant Foreign Minister for African Affairs Naif Mohammed Al-Mudhaf, and other senior officials.
