Prime Minister Directs Savings-Based Economic Action Plan Development
The meeting provided a briefing on the international economic environment and its regional effects, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding the national economy against external pressures. Officials briefed the Prime Minister on the committee’s progress, which had been formed last week to monitor global developments and devise responsive measures. The Prime Minister underscored that, despite international economic pressures, there has been no shortage of petroleum products in the country.

In a recent adjustment, the prices of petroleum products were increased based on the committee’s recommendations, ensuring that the global price surge had the least possible impact on consumers. The Prime Minister emphasized that the committee should continue its work actively and submit simple, practical proposals that directly benefit the public.

Shehbaz Sharif issued a firm directive to immediately shut down any petrol stations or companies found involved in artificial shortages or hoarding. Licenses of such entities are to be revoked, and legal action initiated without delay.

In addition, the Prime Minister instructed the Finance Minister and Petroleum Minister to conduct visits to all four provinces. They are tasked with collaborating with provincial authorities to develop a comprehensive plan for the conservation of petroleum products and their uninterrupted supply to citizens.
