Shia LaBeouf Arrested in New Orleans for Alleged Assault During Mardi Gras

NEW ORLEANS: Actor Shia LaBeouf was arrested by New Orleans Police Department after allegedly striking two men during Mardi Gras celebrations in the French Quarter.

Police said LaBeouf faces two counts of simple battery following the incident, which occurred in the early hours of Tuesday. Officers responded to a call at approximately 12:45 a.m. regarding LaBeouf “causing a disturbance and becoming increasingly aggressive” inside a business, which authorities did not identify.

According to the police statement, when an employee attempted to remove LaBeouf from the premises, the actor allegedly struck a man multiple times with closed fists outside the establishment. Witnesses reported that LaBeouf initially left the scene but returned and continued to behave aggressively. Police added that multiple bystanders tried to restrain him, releasing him in hopes he would leave the area voluntarily.

The arrest took place amid Mardi Gras festivities, which draw large crowds and often require increased law enforcement presence to manage public safety. Authorities did not immediately provide details regarding LaBeouf’s location following the arrest or whether additional charges could be considered.

LaBeouf, 46, is known for his roles in films including “Transformers” and “Honey Boy,” as well as for previous legal incidents and public confrontations.
